The Fears Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour again takes centre-stage in the Fears collection as the Brunswick 40.5 'Barleycorn Plum' sees the design language evolve a step further as we embark on the next chapter of the Jump Hour.

Graceful and complex, the curvaceous Brunswick silhouette takes its inspiration from a gentleman’s cushion case watch in the Fears archives, first made in 1924.

CASE

The Brunswick’s elegant 40.5mm cushion-shaped case has no flat surfaces, with even the solid case back having a gentle sweep. The case’s graceful curves are machined from 316L stainless steel, to a level usually reserved for precious metals. The depth of the polish showcases the sophistication of the machinery and the skill of the operator.

The traditional and bespoke ‘onion’-shaped winding crown, signed with the Fears Cypher, has fine grooves catch the light, adding a touch of radiance to the edge of the case.

CASEBACK

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Barleycorn Plum' comes with the option of either:

• Open exhibition caseback - the first time this has been available on a Jump Hour, offering an unobstructed view of the decorated movement (and custom Fears Blue rotor adorned with the Bristol flower)

• Closed caseback - offering the perfect canvas for personalisation with a custom engraving (please discover engraving options here)

DIAL

Expertly made and inspired by nature, this 3D barleycorn patterned dial offers a compelling fusion of artistry and innovation. Balancing the hour window on the upper side of the dial is a finely brushed and bevelled plate set into the lower side of the dial bearing the Fears name.

• Outer Dial – a distinct barleycorn pattern radiating from the centre of the dial that has been coated in pure silver (which then dazzles from bright white to silver depending on the light)

• Inner Dial – a rich plum matte lacquer that offers a bold yet sophisticated contrast

As this a ‘jump hour’ watch there are no hour numerals on the dial, instead the hour is displayed via a window at 12 o’clock. The disc displaying these numerals is coated in a bright white lacquer before the hours are printed in glossy black ink in Fears bespoke ‘Edwin’ typeface that's been enhanced for display in a round window.

The hour window is surrounded by a hand-applied silver ring, coated in precious Rhodium that has been machined with bevels before being finished by hand with brushed and polished surfaces. These multiple finishes catch the light while mirroring the polished bezel surrounding the crystal.

HAND

With the hours displayed neatly in a window, only one hand is required for telling the time. 

The ‘Fears-shaped’ minute hand includes dual-finishing with half the hand polished to a mirror shine while the other half is frosted and the other half a finish that best complements the dial configuration. The combination of this pair of finishing techniques ensure perfect legibility at all angles, even in low light conditions.

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Barleycorn Plum' has a rhodium coated hand (to match the applied hour aperture and bevelling elsewhere on the dial). 

MOVEMENT

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour is powered by a Swiss made, automatic winding JJ01 movement with a module developed in-house by Christopher Ward (which was originally used in the Fears x Christopher Ward Alliance 01 and is now only exclusively supplied for use by Fears).

Powered by a Sellita SW200, this movement is incredibly accurate, having been regulated to Chronometer grade.

STRAPS

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Barleycorn Plum' comes paired with two handmade straps crafted from Alcantara® with premium fold-over edges (that gives this watch an even more luxurious and contemporary feel); 

• Plum - that perfectly captures (and accentuates) the lacquered inner section of the dial
• Storm Grey - that despite what the name may suggest offers a calm contrast

Alcantara® (a cutting-edge material developed in Italy) offers unrivalled aesthetic, technical and tactile qualities. Whilst being similar to suede, it is far more hard-wearing (and crucially, is also water-resistant) and in addition to being commonly found in the interiors of luxury sports cars it offers excellent properties as a watch strap.

Lined in a premium anti-allergenic calf leather in our signature Fears Blue and embossed with both our logo and ‘Handmade in Belgium’. This is both soft and comfortable and will extend the lifetime of your strap. Both straps are finished with Fears' bespoke pin buckle (featuring the Fears Cypher). 

Customise

You can customise your Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour with any strap designed for a 20mm lug width, including any strap from our range, which you can easily fit yourself without tools.

BRACELET

The Brunswick 40.5 Jump Hour 'Barleycorn Plum' can also be fitted to a bespoke stainless steel 5-link bracelet with expertly brushed and polished links.

Featuring solid screw links, the bracelet has a substantial feel while the silky-smooth movement of the links ensure a comfortable fit around the wrist. The bracelet can be micro-adjusted with both the 8 mm and 6 mm links provided, ensuring a perfect fit. The bracelet is secured to the wrist using a trigger-release butterfly style clasp with the Bristol flower enamelled discreetly inside the blades.

As with all Brunswicks, it features a 20 mm lug width and is designed to fit all of the straps in our range. The bracelet can be removed without tools using its quick-release springbars.

We can adjust the bracelet size for you before sending it. Please contact us by email with your order number and wrist size and we’ll do the rest. We will provide any spare links in an envelope with your watch.

INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED

Each watch we make carries a unique serial number. Engraved discreetly on the case, this number helps us identify your watch and its history.

AMOS BOX

All Fears watches are presented in a slim, rectangular, wooden box made of solid ash and stained in our bespoke shade of blue. This luxury box was inspired by traditional slim Fears watch boxes used in the past, in which the watch lies flat. Recognising the company's heritage, we called this box the Amos, after the names of both the 2nd and 3rd Managing Directors.

The top of the box is discreetly engraved with the Fears logo and features a gentle bevel around its edges, whilst the interior is lined in genuine cream suede. The box is secured by a polished chrome push button, keeping your watch safe and secure.
